Dual Double-Doubles Propel Cards to Victory

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. –Junior Erin Johnson (Saginaw/Heritage) and senior Jenny White (Oxford) each recorded double-digit point and rebound totals, helping SVSU earn its sixth victory of the season 72-64 over Edinboro (Pa.) on Saturday. Johnson's 15 points led the way for the Cardinals to go along with 10 rebounds while White tallied a team-high 14 boards coupled with 10 points.  
     Edinboro controlled the tempo in the first half, stifling the Cards to 24.3% shooting and a zero for six effort from three-point range. Wendy Wiggins poured in 10 points in the first half while her backcourt teammate Krystal Henson added nine, helping the Fighting Scots hold a 38-29 advantage at halftime.
     SVSU fought back in the second half, shooting 51.7% from the floor. Senior guard Jenny Brown (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Twp.) sparked the Cards in the second half, scoring 10 of her 12 points in the second half.  The Cardinals were able to hold the Scots to 32.4% from the floor in the second stanza, outscoring them 43-26 in the process.
     The win puts the Cardinals' overall record at 6-4 (1-2 GLIAC) for the season. The Cards have already tied their win total from last year and will look to eclipse it in their next contest, Saturday, January 5 at Findlay University. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 pm.
