Huskies Outduel Cardinals 74-65

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – In day two of the 2001 Disney Holiday Tournament, St. Cloud State University (Minn.) earned 34 trips to the free-throw line to help offset a subpar shooting performance from the field to down the Cardinals 74-65 on Wednesday. The Huskies shot just 29 percent in the second half, but were able to sink 19 of 23 free throw attempts to help maintain an eight-point halftime lead.
Three Huskies scored in double-digits with Tina Schreiner leading the way with 19 points and 12 rebounds. St. Cloud was able to get to the charity stripe 20 more times than SVSU, offsetting another great performance by senior guard Jenny White (Oxford). White led the Cardinals in points (16), assists (8) and steals (5) while hitting five three-pointers. On the weekend, White tallied 38 points, grabbed 14 boards, dished-out 12 assists, and had 8 steals.
The Cardinals' record is now 5-4 (1-2 GLIAC) with their next contest coming on December 29 at home against Edinboro (Pa.). Tip-off is slated for 1 pm.
