Cards Drop to 2-5 in the GLIAC
Houghton, Mich.- The Lady Cardinals traveled
to the frigid Upper Peninsula of Michigan and couldn't heat-up
on the court either, falling 61-46 to host Michigan Tech on Thursday.
SVSU turned the ball over a season-high 31 times, shooting
just 28.6% from the floor in the first half. The Cards scored
just 17 in the first half and couldn't close the gap as the Huskies
capitalized on SVSU miscues. Michigan Tech racked-up
24 points off Cardinal turnovers.
Senior Kathryn Williams (Detroit/Martin
Luther King) led the Cardinals in scoring, pouring-in 19 on
6-of-14 shooting. Williams knocked-down three triples
and was the only Cardinal in double-digits. Junior Maureen
Weber (Chicago, Ill./St. Benedict's) chipped-in eight
points and six rebounds in 19 minutes off-the-bench.
With the victory, the Huskies move
past the Cardinals into fourth place in the GLIAC North Division
at 3-5. SVSU will make the jaunt to Marquette to duel #15
Northern Michigan on Saturday at 1 p.m.
