Cardinals Shred "The Wood"

MIDLAND, Mich.- The SVSU Cardinals defeated rival Northwood 66-50 on Saturday (Feb. 23). The win gives SVSU a 44-3 lead in the all-time series. The Cardinals used a solid defensive effort to gain the win. SVSU limited the Timberwolves to just 24% shooting in the first half to stake a 27-17 halftime lead. The Cardinals then used a 10-2 run to start the second half to put the game away.
   Senior Bridgett Lamar (Ypsilanti) paced the Cardinals with game-highs in points (16) and rebounds (12). Erin Johnson (Saginaw/Heritage) and Jenny White (Oxford) each added 11 points for the Cardinals. Lauren Metaj led Northwood with 13 points.
   The win marked the final game for seniors Lamar, White, Kathryn Williams (Detroit/Martin Luther King HS), Jenny Brown (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township HS), Tania Fliter (Griffith, Ind.), and Stacey Premo (Saginaw/Swan Valley), and Natalie Novick (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley HS).
   SVSU finishes the season 10-16 (4-14 GLIAC), while Northwood falls to 6-19 (2-16 GLIAC).
