University Center, Mich.- The Lady Cardinals
once again fell behind early and were unable to recover, losing
their eighth consecutive game, as the Michigan Tech Huskies beat
the Cardinals 59-48 . SVSU was behind 34-20 going into the half,
but put together a run in the second half, closing the gap to
five points with 3:58 remaining. The Cardinals only scored two
points the rest of the game though, on free throws. The Cardinals
were bothered by the Huskies defense, as they committed 29 turnovers,
leading to 16 Husky steals.
Erin Johnson (Saginaw/Saginaw
Heritage HS) led the way for the Cardinals, scoring 11 points.
Natalie Novick (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) scored
eight points and had eight rebounds, while Trisha Moody (Saginaw/Swan
Valley) chipped-in eight points and seven boards.
Michigan Tech was led by Heather Harden,
who scored 16 points and Andrea Novak who collected 12 points.
Jacylnn Kriegel also contributed eight points and seven rebounds
for the Huskies.
The loss drops the Cardinals to
8-14 (2-12 GLIAC), while the Huskies move to 14-8 (8-6 GLIAC).
The Cardinals host Grand Valley State Thursday, (Feb. 14) at 5:30
p.m.
