Cards Drop 3-0 Decision To Findlay
UNIVERSITY
CENTER, Mich. – Freshman Sarah Radoute (Clinton,Twp.,
Mich./L,Anse Creuse) led the Cards in kills with 12 and collected
5 digs in a 18-30, 23-30, 24-30 loss to Findlay on Saturday afternoon.
Others contributing were Junior Suzanne Beaver
(Battle Creek, Mich./Harper Creek) and Sophomore
Danielle Dryer (Clinton Twp.,Mich./Chippewa Valley)
each recording 7 kills apiece. With the loss the Cards fall to (6-17)
overall and (0-10) in the GLIAC. (Stats) |

Cards Drop Heartbreaker to Ashland
UNIVERSITY
CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State volleyball team nearly
picked up their first GLIAC win of the season on Friday night but
dropped a 3-2 decision after winning the first two games. The game
scores were 30-27, 30-19, 23-30, 18-30 and 12-15. Sarah
Redoute (Clinton Twp., Mich./L'Anse Creuse) posted a double-double
with 17 digs and eleven kills. Suzanne Beaver (Battle
Creek, Mich./Harper Creek) had a team-high 18 kills and also tallied
11 digs with a .326 hitting percentage. Amy Howard
(Cass City, Mich.) tallied 51 assists and six digs. (Stats) |

Beaver Collects Double-Double in 3-0 Loss
at Wayne State
DETROIT,
Mich. – Junior Suzanne Beaver (Battle
Creek, Mich./Harper Creek) led SVSU with 19 kills and also
collected 12 digs in a 25-30, 24-30, 23-30 loss at Wayne State on
Friday evening. Beaver hit .273 well above the team's .084 hitting
percentage. Freshman Carmen Schacher (Flint,
Mich./Kearsley) had 22 digs continuing her solid defense this

Cards Drop Eighth Straight, 3-1, at Michigan
Tech
HOUGHTON,
Mich. – Sophomore Danielle Dryer (Clinton
Twp., Mich./Chippewa Valley) led SVSU with 16 kills and also had
four digs and three blocks in a 31-29, 26-30, 30-23, 30-17 loss
at Michigan Tech on Sunday. MTU hit .333 in the third game and .516
in the fourth game as they hit .275 for the match. SVSU hit .142
but hit just .103 in the third game and .111 in the fourth game.
Junior Suzanne Beaver (Battle Creek, Mich./Harper
Creek) had 14 kills and seven digs for SVSU. The serving game was
a positive for SVSU as they had nine aces including four by freshman

Cards Drop a 3-0 Decision at Northern Michigan
MARQUETTE,
Mich. – Senior Julie Ritsema (Charlotte, Mich.) collected
eight kills at Northern Michigan on Saturday in a match that the
Wildcats owned for the start. NMU hit .439 while SVSU hit .097.
Andrea Smith led all players with 19 kills and hit .515. SVSU falls
to 6-12, 0-5 GLIAC and faces Michigan Tech on Sunday at 2:00 pm.

Beaver Records 17 Kills in 3-1 Loss at Lake
Superior

STE. MARIE,
Mich. – The Cardinal volleyball team kept it close in the
first two games on Friday night against Lake Superior State but
the Lakers kept SVSU winless in the GLIAC (0-4) with a 33-31,
18-30, 30-23, 30-25 win. Junior Suzanne Beaver
(Battle Creek, Mich./Harper Creek) had a team-high 17
kills but hit just .160 for the match. Beaver had 10 or more kills
for the ninth time this season. Sophomore Amy Howard
(Cass City, Mich.) registered 47 assists and nine digs.
Freshman Sarah Redoute (Clinton Twp., Mich./L'Anse
Creuse) had a double-double with 15 digs and 11 kills, but
also had 12 attack errors and hit in negative figures. SVSU struggled
to a -.075 hitting percentage in game three and a .091 percentage

SVSU Falls 3-0 to #14 Ferris State
UNIVERSITY
CENTER, Mich. – SVSU concluded a tough week on Saturday with
a 3-0 loss to Ferris State by the scores of 30-25, 30-24 and 30-22.
Danielle Dryer (Clinton Twp., Mich./Chippewa Valley)
led the Cardinals with 11 kills and hit .318 for the match. Aimee
Bamberg (Millington, Mich.) added nine kills and a .533
hitting percentage. SVSU hit .162 overall as Ferris State hit .357
in the three games. Lauren Heine led Ferris State with 12 kills

CENTER, Mich. – SVSU dropped to 6-9 overall and 0-2 in the
GLIAC with a 3-0 loss to Grand Valley State on Friday. Sarah
Redoute (Clinton Twp., Mich./L'Anse Creuse) led SVSU with
eight kills. Amy Howard (Cass City, Mich.) added
24 assists and six digs. Carmen Schacher (Flint,

Cards Drop GLIAC Opener to Northwood
UNIVERSITY
CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State women's volleyball
team unveiled their newly renovated Cardinal Gym on Tuesday night
against rival Northwood and the visitors spoiled any celebration
with a 30-24, 30-20, 30-22 win over the Cardinals. The Timberwolves
hitting was on target throughout the match and particularly in
the third game. NU hit .410 as a team and .500 in the final game
to seal the win. (More)

Howard Named to Flyer Invitational All-Tournament
Team
ROMEOVILLE, Ill.
– Sophomore setter Amy Howard (Cass
City, Mich.) was named to the Lewis University Flyer Invitational
All-Tournament Team this weekend as SVSU went 2-2. Howard averaged
11.27 assists per game and also recorded 50 assists against #21
Armstrong Atlantic on Friday. She also had 44 digs and hit .406
with 14 kills.

Cards Sweep a Pair of Matches in Day Two of
AmericInn Bash
MANKATO, Minn. –
What a difference a year makes for the Saginaw Valley State volleyball
squad. The Cardinals won a total of two matches in 2004 and after
a pair of wins on Saturday at the AmericInn Back to School Bash
their record stands at 3-1. SVSU took down the host school, Minnesota
State-Mankato, in the first match by the game scores of 15-30, 30-26,
30-24, 21-30 and 15-10. Sophomore Laura Schultz
(Marysville, Mich.) hit .270 for the match with 13 kills

Cards Split a Pair of Matches in Day One
of AmericInn Bash
MANKATO, Minn. – The Saginaw
Valley State volleyball squad began the 2005 season with a 3-0
win over Bemidji State in their first match at the AmericInn Back
to School Bash on Friday inside Minnesota State-Mankato's Taylor
Center. The Cards won by the game scores of 30-23, 30-26 and 30-24
while hitting .197 for the match with 10 team blocks. Freshman
Sarah Redoute (Clinton Twp., Mich./L'Anse
Creuse) tallied 11 kills and a .286 hitting percentage. She
also tallied one solo block and six block assists. Sophomore Laura
Schultz (Marysville, Mich.) also tallied 11
kills and hit .500 in the process. Junior Ashleigh Hubbard
(Battle Creek, Mich./Central) had a strong defensive
game with 15 digs. Sophomore Amy Howard (Cass
City, Mich.) registered 36 assists after having 30 assists
in the first match. Hubbard had 16 digs in the second match. (More)
