Hope Hoffer

Hope Hoffer joined the Cardinal volleyball staff as First Assistant prior to the 2001 season. She brings eight years of coaching and playing experience to the Cardinals. She spent one year as an assistant at Spring Arbor before joining the staff at SVSU.

"It was fate running into Hope and Marc at an AAU tournament," says head coach Bob Sells. "Adding Hope to our coaching staff will be a big boost for our athletes, since she has been in a national level program."

Hoffer played for Spring Arbor University and helped lead the team to the NCAA National Championship. As a college setter and right side hitter, she will bring a great deal of knowledge into the program. Hoffer also played competitively on the Michigan Jose Cuervo Tournament circuit.

Hoffer earned a degree in elementary education from Spring Arbor in 1995 and is currently employed with the Mosaica Academy of Bay City.

Originally from Dorr, Mich., Hoffer graduated from Wayland Union High School where she competed in volleyball. Hoffer and her husband, Marc, reside in Saginaw.

Marc Hoffer

Marc Hoffer joined the Cardinal volleyball program for his first season in 2001, along with his wife, Hope. He serves as the team's second assistant.

Hoffer has played volleyball competitively for 13 years, starting with a club team from the Nazarene Church travel team. He still competes as a USAV player in local leagues and state sponsored tournaments. After excelling as a player, he has turned his attention to coaching.

Hoffer has four years of coaching experience in high school and club programs. This year will mark his second season coaching at the collegiate level.

"We are very fortunate to have Marc join our program," says Sells. "He is a great athlete who knows the game and will have the respect of our players."

Hoffer is currently employed with the security department of the Bavarian Inn, Farnkenmuth. He resides in Saginaw with his wife, Hope.
