Lakers Sink Cardinals in
GLIAC Opener, 3-0
UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University
volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of the Lake
Superior State University Lakers on Friday (September 17). The
Lakers won by scores of 30-22, 30-16 and 30-18.
Senior Megan Pendleton
(Belding, Mich.) led the Cardinals with seven kills,
while seniors Valarie Lyczkowski (Temperance,
Mich./Bedford) and Desiree Betts (Livonia,
Mich.) each recorded a team-high eight digs. Freshmen Amy
Howard (Cass City, Mich.) and Jessica
Conley (St. Johns, Mich.) racked up eleven assists
each to lead SVSU in defeat.
Vanessa Vincent led the Lakers with
a match-high ten kills, while Erin Baker had a match-high 22 assists
on the evening. Kristy James tallied a match-high ten digs.
SVSU falls to 2-11 (0-1 GLIAC),
while LSSU moves to 4-9 (1-1 GLIAC). The Cardinals return to the
court on Saturday (September 18) with a home match against Michigan
Tech University. Play is set to begin at 4:00p.m.
