Cardinals Battle #25 Ferris State

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball team fought hard but eventually fell to #25 Ferris State by a score of 3-1. FSU won game one 30-23 and the Cardinals retaliated with a 30-27 game two victory. The Bulldogs won game three 30-23 and won game four 30-17.
     Freshman Daniell Dryer (Clinton Twp., Mich./Chippewa Valley) led the Cardinals in defeat with eleven kills, while seniorValarie Lyczkowski (Temperance, Mich./ Bedford) recorded a match-high 23 digs. Sophomore Rachel Pelhank (Temperance, Mich./ Bedford) chipped in with nine kills in the four-game set, while freshman setter Jessica Conley (St. Johns, Mich.) racked up 27 set assists for the Cardinals.
     Karla Fairbanks led Ferris State with a match-high 19 kills, while Emily Clouse recorded 59 set assists. Danielle Baucher had a team-high 16 digs.
     SVSU falls to 2-26 (0-16 GLIAC), while Ferris State improves to 19-5 (11-3 GLIAC). The Cardinals return to the court on Saturday (October 30) with a home match against Grand Valley State. Play is set to begin at 4:00p.m.
