Cardinals Fall to Michigan Tech

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball dropped their second five-game match in as many nights on Saturday (October 25), this time against Michigan Tech. SVSU took the first two games by scores of 30-20 and 30-28, before Tech took the next three by scores of 30-24, 30-26, and 15-13.
     Freshman Aimee Bamberg (Millington, Mich.) led the Cardinals in defeat with 17 kills. Freshmen Rachel Pelhank (Temperance, Mich./Bedford HS) and Julia Jezowski (Pinconning, Mich.) each added 16 kills. Junior Kelly Stoltz (New Stanton, Pa.) racked up a match-high 28 digs, while Pelhank recorded 21. Sophomore Susan Zeigler (Armada, Mich.) assisted on 52 kills for the Cardinals, while also recording 20 digs in the loss.
     Rebecca Kaukola racked up 17 kills to lead the Huskies, while Jamie Orlowski had a team-high 27 digs. Kristin Klock managed 39 set assists on the night.
     With the loss, the Cardinals fall to 2-21 (0-14 GLIAC), while the Huskies raise their record to 11-16 (6-8 GLIAC). The Cardinals return to the court on Sunday (October 26) at 2:00p.m. against Northern Michigan.
