Lady Cardinals Tumble

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - Saginaw Valley fell 3-1 to No. 19 Northwood in GLIAC action on Tuesday night (Oct. 22). Game scores were 30-13, 29-31, 30-23, 30-12. SVSU is now 5-21 (1-13 GLIAC) for the season, while the Tmberwolves' improved to 23-3 (11-2).
    Senior Jamie Reed (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage HS) directed the offense for a majority of the match, dishing out 17 assists and 14 digs. Sophomore Kelly Stoltz (New Stanton, Pa.) registered seven kills and five digs, while sophomore Kelly Samalik (Freeland, Mich.) added seven kills.
    Jelena Mijatovic led Northwood with 23 kills and 13 digs, while Amy Gruszynski tallied 56 assists.
    The Timberwolves hit .333 while using stingy defense to keep SVSU at a .066 mark. Northwood also had 73 kills to SVSU's 24.
    Saginaw Valley State will travel to Madonna on Thursday (Oct. 24), at 7:00 p.m.
