      Cats Take Bite Out of Cardinals

MARQUETTE, Mich. - Despite a hard fought battle, Saginaw Valley State University fell 3-0 to Northern Michigan University on Friday (November 1). Game scores were 30-21 30-28, 30-16. SVSU falls to 7-24 (1-14 GLIAC) for the season, while the Wildcats improve to 12-13 overall.
     Despite the loss senior Jamie Reed (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage HS) posted a match-high 20 digs, bumping her career leading record for digs to 1551. She has also registered 502 digs on the year, 31 shy of the SVSU single season record. Sophomore Kelly Stoltz (New Stanton, Pa.) tallied 13 digs for the Cards, and fellow sophomore Kelly Samalik (Freeland, Mich.) led the team in kills with eight.
     Kelli McCune recorded a match high 42 assists, while Holly Greenamyre buried 14 kills in leading Northern Michigan to victory.
     The Cardinals will return to action when they travel to Michigan Tech on Saturday (November 2) at 4:00 p.m. to take on the Huskies of Michigan Tech.
