Saginaw Valley Downed By No. 18 Northwood

MIDLAND, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University opened the 2002 conference season with a tough 3-0 loss (30-15, 30-20, 30-25) to No.18 Northwood. The Cardinals slipped to 5-9 overall and 0-1 in the GLIAC, while the Timberwolves improved to 13-1, 1-0.
    Senior Jamie Reed (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage HS) led the birds with 15 assists and 8 digs, while sophomore Kelly Stoltz (New Stanton, Penn) and juniorValarie Lyczkowski (Temperance, Mich./Bedford HS) chipped in with a combined 11 kills.
    The Cardinals continue conference play Friday (Sept. 20) when they play host to Wayne State at 7:00 p.m.
