Huskies Bite Cardinals

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Lady Cardinals dropped their eighth-straight GLIAC match, falling to Michigan Tech, 30-23, 30-16, 30-24, Saturday afternoon in the Cardinal Gym. SVSU slipped to 4-16 on the season, 0-8 in GLIAC play while the Huskies improved to 6-10 overall, 1-4 in league action.
    Senior Jamie Reed (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage HS) dished out 13 assists and a game-high 17 digs, while junior Valarie Lyczkowski (Temperance, Mich./Bedford HS) tallied 12 digs. Sophomore Kelly Stoltz (New Stanton, Penn.), led the Cardinal front line with ten kills and Freshman Susan Ziegler (Armada, Mich.) chipped in 12 assists.
    As a team SVSU outdug NMU 56-51, but the Huskies hit .268 while the Cardinals only hit .075. Sarah Ahnen poured in 14 kills and 11 digs to lead the Huskies to their first GLIAC victory of the season.
    Saginaw Valley State will play at Findlay on Friday (Oct. 12), at 7:00 p.m.
