Mercyhurst Sweeps Cardinals

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - Saginaw Valley fell 3-0 to Mercyhurst in GLIAC action on Friday night (Oct. 18). Game scores were 30-24, 30-25, 30-22. SVSU is now 5-19 (1-11 GLIAC) for the season, while the Lakers improve to 17-4 (9-2).
    Although the Cardinals lost, senior Jamie Reed (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage HS) put together another great performance, collecting 28 digs and 10 kills. Sophomore Kelly Stoltz (New Stanton, Penn.) punched eight kills and 17 digs, while freshman Susan Ziegler (Armada, Mich.) dished out 27 assists.
     The Lakers used a balanced attack in the victory, as two players had at least ten kills and ten digs. Lyndsi Hughes and Leslie Macko of Mercyhurst both finished 13 kills and 16 digs.
    Saginaw Valley State will host Gannon on Saturday (Oct. 19), at 4:00 p.m.
