SVSU Falters
At LSSU, 3-1
SUALT STE. MARIE, Mich. - Saginaw Valley fell 3-1 to LSSU 30-15,
30-16, 28-30, 30-27 in GLIAC action on Tuesday night (Oct. 15).
The loss drops the Cardinals record to 5-18 overall and1-10 in
GLIAC action, while the victory improves the Lakers record to
11-10 and 4-6 in conference play.
Although the Cardinals lost, senior Jamie
Reed (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage HS) put on one of the
best defensive performances the schools ever witnessed. She collected
a single match school-record of 35 digs and added nine kills.
Sophomore Ashley Howard (Howell, Mich.) finished
with nine kills and 14 digs, while freshman Emily Marshall
(Ypsilanti, Mich.) tallied 26 assists. The Cards were
also strong at the net, as sophomore Kelly Samalik (Freeland,
Mich.) slammed eight kills, three block assists, and two solo
blocks.
Saginaw Valley State will host Mercyhurst
College on Friday (Oct. 18), at 7:00 p.m.
