No. 5 Lakers Drown Cardinals
ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Lady Cardinals dropped their fourth-straight
GLIAC match, falling 3-0 to No. 5 Grand Valley State on Friday
(Sept. 27). Game scores were 30-14, 30-11, 30-23.
The Lakers won their 34th consecutive home
match, while knocking off SVSU for the seventh straight time.
The Cardinals fall to 4-12 on the season, 0-4 in GLIAC play, while
the Lakers are 13-1 overall, 4-0 in league action.
The Cardinals, without their floor leader
and senior captain Jamie Reed (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage
HS) only managed 12 assists/kills. Junior Valarie Lyczkowski
(Temperance, Mich./Bedford HS) finished with a game-high
10 digs, but the Birds couldn't withstand the Laker fury. GVSU's
Chara Fehsenfeld and Tracy Kirk each slammed 10 kills, while Nicole
Bayle handed out a game-high 38 assists preserving the Laker victory.
Saginaw Valley State is back in action
Saturday (Sept. 28), when the Cardinals visit Ferris State at
3:00 p.m.
