SVSU Falls
to No. 23 Findlay
FINDLAY, Ohio- The Lady Cardinals dropped their ninth-straight
GLIAC match, falling to the University of Findlay, 30-12, 30-21,
30-27, Friday night. SVSU slipped to 4-17 on the season, 0-9 in
GLIAC play while the Oilers improved to 17-5 overall, 6-2 in league
action.
Despite the loss, the Cardinals
played very tough defensively, led by Jamie Reed's (Saginaw,
Mich./Heritage HS) game-high 19 digs, moving her career total
to an impressive 1335. Junior Valarie Lyczkowski (Temperance,
Mich./Bedford HS) posted 12 digs, while freshman Susan
Ziegler (Armada, Mich.) poured in 13 assists.
As a team SVSU outdug NMU 61-57,
but the Oilers hit .207 versus the Cardinals -.021. SVSU managed
only 19 kills in the match, while Findlay slammed down 46, 11
by the Oilers Kelly Pohlman.
Saginaw Valley State will play at
Ashland on Saturday (Oct. 12), at 5:00 p.m.
