Reed Breaks Record In 3-1 Defeat

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - Senior Jamie Reed (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage HS) tallied 26 digs, setting a new school record for season digs as SVSU lost 3-1 (28-30, 30-22, 30-20, 30-20) to No. 22 Ferris State University on Friday (November 8).
Reed's 26 digs bumped her season tally to 536, four digs better than the previous record holder Charlene Carter (1994). Reed also increased her career leading record for digs to 1585.
"Jamie is the best defensive player I have ever coached," stated head coach Bob Sells. "She reads the opposition so well it's almost like she's in the hitters head."
Despite the loss junior Valarie Lyczkowski (Temperance, Mich./Bedford HS) recorded 24 digs and sophomore's Kelly Samalik (Freeland, Mich.) and Megan Pendleton (Belding, Mich.) led the team offensively with 11 and 10 kills respectively.

For the match, FSU held a 53-38 advantage in kills, and hit .193. SVSU hit .120, while holding a 7.5-5.5 edge in blocks. The loss slips SVSU to 7-26 (1-16 GLIAC) for the season, while the Bulldogs improve to 24-4 (14-2 GLIAC).
The Cardinals will complete the regular season tomorrow (November 9) at 2:00 p.m. against Grand Valley State.
