SVSU Falls in Three Games at Ferris

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - The Lady Cardinals dropped their fifth-straight GLIAC match, falling 3-0 to Ferris State on Saturday (Sept. 28). Game scores were 30-16, 30-24, 30-19. SVSU has dropped four straight matches to Ferris State, dating back to the 2000 season.
    Sophomore Ashley Howard (Howell, Mich.) led the Cardinals defense with 11 digs, while junior Valarie Lyczkowski (Temperance, Mich./Bedford HS) registered nine. Freshman Susan Ziegler (Armada, Mich.) handed out a career high 21 assists and sophomore Kelly Samalik (Freeland, Mich.) stuffed a game-high four block assists. The Bulldogs Karla Fairbanks and Alaina Olds each slammed 13 kills for the victors.
    The Cardinals fall to 4-13 on the season, 0-5 in GLIAC play while the Bulldogs improve to 13-2, 4-0.
    Saginaw Valley State is back in action Friday (Oct. 4), when the Cardinals host Northern Michigan at 7:00 p.m.
