                                         SVSU Soars Over Eagles

FINDLAY, OHIO - The Lady Cardinals picked up their first GLIAC victory, prevailing over Ashland University, 20-30, 30-28, 30-22,and 30-24. The victory snaps a nine game losing streak in GLIAC play for the birds.
    Leading the floor play for the Cardinals were Jamie Reed (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage HS) with 15 digs and nine kills, Ashley Howard (Howell,Mich.) with 15 digs, and freshman Susan Ziegler (Armada, Mich.) dishing out 34 assists and getting on the floor for 16 digs. The Cards were also strong at the net, as sophomore Kelly Samalik (Freeland,Mich.) powered out 15 kills, seven block assists, and 1 solo block. Kelly Stoltz (New Stanton,Penn.) was also a force at the net, putting away eleven kills and contributing 13 digs.
    The win gives SVSU a record of 5-17, (1-9 GLIAC). The loss drops the Oilers to 13-10, (2-7 GLIAC).
    Saginaw Valley State will play at Lake Superior State University on Tuesday (Oct. 15), at 7:00 p.m.
