Chargers Zap Cardinals in Four

HILLSDALE, Mich.– The Cardinal netters suffered their second straight conference loss to open the GLIAC season, as Hillsdale College beat SVSU (30-13, 30-20, 28-30, 30-19) on Saturday. The Cardinals fall to 3-10 overall on the season and 0-2 in the GLIAC.
"We had a little trouble with communication today," head coach Bob Sells said. "We couldn't put it together. It was not a pretty day."
Pacing the Cardinals was junior Jamie Reed (Saginaw/Heritage) who had 33 assists and also moved into tenth place on the SVSU all-time career dig list with 752. Valarie Lykowski (Temperance/Bedford) and Brooke Burton (Temperance) each had ten kills, while Megan Pendleton's (Belding) 13 digs were tops for the Cardinals. Beth Engle (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) also chipped-in 11 digs for Saginaw Valley.
SVSU will return to the Cardinal Gym on Tuesday to take on Madonna, Grand Valley visits on Friday, and the Cardinals close out the week with a Saturday matinee against Ferris State.
