Chargers Zap Cardinals in Four
HILLSDALE, Mich. The Cardinal netters
suffered their second straight conference loss to open the GLIAC
season, as Hillsdale College beat SVSU (30-13, 30-20, 28-30, 30-19)
on Saturday. The Cardinals fall to 3-10 overall on the season
and 0-2 in the GLIAC.
"We had a little trouble
with communication today," head coach Bob Sells said. "We
couldn't put it together. It was not a pretty day."
Pacing the Cardinals
was junior Jamie Reed (Saginaw/Heritage) who had 33 assists
and also moved into tenth place on the SVSU all-time career dig
list with 752. Valarie Lykowski (Temperance/Bedford) and
Brooke Burton (Temperance) each had ten kills, while Megan
Pendleton's (Belding) 13 digs were tops for the Cardinals.
Beth Engle (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) also chipped-in
11 digs for Saginaw Valley.
SVSU will return to the Cardinal
Gym on Tuesday to take on Madonna, Grand Valley visits on Friday,
and the Cardinals close out the week with a Saturday matinee against
Ferris State.
