Lady Cardinals Fall Twice
BIG RAPIDS- Saginaw Valley State University dropped two matches at the
Ferris State University Invitational Saturday to finish their opening
weekend with an 0-4 record.
SVSU fell to University of Montevallo 15-8,
15-11, 13-15 and 15-13, then fell in three straight games to Hillsdale
College by scores of 16-14, 15-6 and 15-1.
Sophomore outside hitter Bree Hickman (Temperance/Bedford)
led SVSU with 15 kills and 16 digs against Montevallo, while senior setter
Erin Geiger (Belding) had 41 assists, senior Jenni Dast (Bay City/Central)
had 22 digs and sophomore senior Dana Nelson (Adrian) added 11 kills.
Against Hillsdale, Nelson had 10 kills and
three blocks, Dast had 10 digs, and Geiger had 28 assists.
SVSU opens is home schedule Tuesday by hosting
Madonna University at 7 p.m. in Cardinal Gymnasium.
