SVSU Wins Second Straight
UNIVERSITY CENTER, MI-- The Saginaw Valley State University women's
volleyball team matched its season high with its second straight win,
defeating Mercyhurst College on Saturday afternoon by the scores of 15-3,
12-15, 15-10, 15-12.
Sophomore Bree Hickman (Temperance/Bedford)
led SVSU with 11 kills, 3 digs and 6 block assists, while senior Dana
Nelson (Adrian) had 11 kills, 8 block assists and a block solo. Sophomore
Ashley Schafer (Essexville/Garber) had 8 kills and 4 block assists, while
senior Jenni Dast (Bay City/Central) had 3 service aces and 5 digs for
the Lady Cardinals. Senior setter Erin Geiger (Belding) had 40 assists,
10 digs and 4 kills. Junior Brooke Burton (Temperance/Bedford) chipped
in 12 kills for SVSU.
SVSU improves to 7-13 overall, 3-6 in the
GLIAC.
The Lady Cardinals next match is on Sunday,
October 8 when they host Gannon University. Match time is 1 pm.
