CARDS FINISH
FIFTH AT GLIAC CHAMPIONSHIP
ALLENDALE, Mich. - The SVSU
Cardinals finished fifth in the 2005 GLIAC Outdoor Championships
with a team total of 65 points. The women had two second-place finishes
on the track as senior Diane Johnston (Grand
Blanc, Mich.) ran a time of 38:29.04 in the 10,000 meters and
senior Mandie Gallier (Medford, N.J./Shawnee)
ran a time of 1:00.44 in the 400 hurdles. Junior Lisa Fair
(Troy, Mich./Athens) also had a strong showing in the 400
hurdles with a time of 1:02.65 which was good for third place.
Freshman Becca Rudey
(Wixom, Mich./Walled Lake Western) ran well in the distance
events as she was third in the 5000 meters (18:05.02) and sixth
in the 3000 meters (10:34.68). Junior Ashley Bishop
(Pickford, Mich.) placed fourth in two events with a distance
of 43-7 in the shot put and 154-10 in the hammer throw. Freshman
Kali Briggs (Jackson, Mich./Vandercook Lake)
had a third-place effort in the javelin with a top throw of 126-6.
Senior Bethany Rasmussen (Port Huron, Mich.)
placed fourth in the high jump (5-3.25) and the 4x400 relay consisting
of Jessica Sweeney (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage),
Krystin Vogel (Ubly, Mich.), Fair and
Gallier were fourth with a time of 3:57.34.
