Cardinals Have Strong Showing at SVSU Invite

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Lady Cardinals' Track and Field Team competed in the 17th Annual SVSU Invitational on Friday, (Jan.21). Many had first, second and third place finishes for the Cardinals.
     Earning first place honors was Mandie Gallier (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) in the 400 meter dash with a time of 58.37, sophomore Jessica Sweeney (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage) in the 800 meter run (2:20.75), and Mary Jo Pouillon (Owosso, Mich.) in the shot put (43' 11'').
     Becca Rudey (Wixom, Mich./Walled Lake Western) finished second in the 3000 meter run with a time of 10:45.29. Rudey then teamed with Krystin Vogel (Ubly, Mich), Courtney Kotewa (Essexville, Mich./Garber), and Jenny Bellsky (Frankenmuth, Mich.) in the distance medley to earn second place crossing the finish line with a time of 12:33.60, which set a new team record. The 4X400 meter relay team of Sweeney, Kotewa, Vogel and Lisa Fair (Troy, Mich.) also earned a second place finish (4:10.07).      Rounding up the scoring for SVSU was Ashley Christie (Bay City, Mich./John Glenn HS), as she earned third place in the pole vault (10').
     The Cards return to action on Friday, (Jan.28) as they travel to Findlay, Ohio to compete in the Alltel Classic. Meet time is set for 4:30p.m.
