TWO ATHLETES QUALIFY FOR THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State women’s track & field squad is sending two student-athletes to the 2004 NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships held in Walnut, California on the campus of Mount San Antonio College. The championships run from May 27-29 and are being run at Hilmer Lodge Stadium.
    The Cardinals will feature junior Mandie Gallier (Midland, Mich.) who is competing in three events. She has her best chance at All-American status in the 400 meter hurdles, where she has ran the second-best time this season (58.64). In addition, she has a chance to potentially qualify for the U.S. Olympic Trials if she can run 57.70. Gallier also qualified in the 400 meters finishing 17th (55.95) and the 100 meter hurdles finishing 19th (14.38). Gallier will run in prelims for the 400 meters and 400 hurdles on Thursday, May 27 and in the 100 hurdles on Friday, May 28. She will be busy on Saturday, May 29 with the finals for the 100 hurdles set for 4:55 pm. In addition, she will compete in the 400 meters final at 5:10 pm and the 400 hurdles final at 5:46 pm.
    Senior Jennifer Brogger (Harbor Springs, Mich.) also qualified in the javelin throw currently ranking 10th with a throw of 145-10.25. Brogger is scheduled to compete on Saturday, May 29 at noon in the finals.
