Sullivan Sets New Record In Long Jump

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University track and field senior Nicole Sullivan (Vassar, Mich.) set a new school record in the indoor long jump competition Friday (December 6), with a jump of 19’11’’. She broke the previous mark of 19’6. 25’’ set by Katrina Jones in 1993. The jump automatically qualifies her for the NCAA indoor national meet in Boston, Mass., on March 14th and 15th, 2003.
Sullivan now holds three school records, including the triple jump in both the indoor (38’8. 5’’) and outdoor (39’3. 5’’) events. She is also the current holder of the GLIAC indoor triple jump record, has earned GLIAC honors in the 400, triple jump, and 4X400 relay, and was named “Female Ryder Athlete of the Year,” SVSU’s highest athletic honor, each of the last two years.
Sullivan and SVSU will next compete Friday (January 17) in the Cardinal Collegiate Open at 5:00p.m.
