May 20, 2005 RAY NAMED SECOND TEAM ALL-REGION STARKVILLE, Miss. - Junior pitcher Karen Ray (Fenton, Mich./Lake Fenton) has been named Second Team All-Great Lakes Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Ray was the number one starter for the Cardinals and led the team with a 1.39 ERA in 135.2 innings. She struck out 154 and walked 18 while throwing three shutouts. Ray won half of the Cardinals' 20 games on the mound and in the process climbed into the top 10 in several career pitching categories. Ray currently ranks third at SVSU with 353 strikeouts and needs 154 to tie the record. In addition, she ranks tied for eighth with 61 appearances, ninth in starts with 51 and ninth in innings pitched with 336.1. She also has a 2.12 ERA at SVSU and has 25 career wins.
