Cardinals Take Two More
FORT MYERS, Fla. - The SVSU
softball team tallied two more victories on its spring trip
in Fort Myers, Fla. on Tuesday with wins over Siena Heights
University, 3-2, and Adrian 5-3.
In game one, Christina Fuchiarelli
(Washington/Harper Woods Regina) pitched a five-hitter,
allowing just two walks while striking-out six. Fuchiarelli
retired 14 consecutive batters down the stretch to help seal
the victory. Angie Sting (Unionville/Sebewaing)
went 1 for 3 at the plate, driving in two runs for SVSU.
In the nightcap, the Lady Cards
needed a seventh-inning, three-run rally to defeat Adrian College
5-3. Courtney Pintek (Flushing), despite giving-up
11 hits, got tough when she had to and was able to pick-up the
victory for SVSU. Big RBI-hits in the seventh came from Becky
Bourcier (Montrose) and Jodi Dempsey (Lake
Orion). Whitney Babcock (Bay City/All Saints)
came off-the-bench to tally a key hit in the seventh as well.
The wins move the Cardinals' record
to 5-1-1 on the season as they take a day off before preparing
to battle GLIAC nemesis Mercyhurst on Thursday.
