Cardinals Fall to Wayne State
April 11, 2001
DETROIT, MI –The Saginaw Valley State University softball team
played a double header against Wayne State University on Wednesday
afternoon. SVSU was defeated in both games by the scores of 7-3
and 5-4. Junior right-hander Carrie Shay (Flint/Burton Bendle)
began the first game, but was replaced by Freshman Christina Fuciarelli
(Washington/Harper Woods Regina) after giving up five runs in
the first inning. The Cardinals three runs all came in the first
inning. One of those runs was off a double from junior Whitney
Babcock (Bay City/All Saints). Sophomore Coutney Pintek (Flushing)
drops to a 6-4 record despite pitching a close second game. The
Cardinals moved the ball well, but were unable to counter the
three runs the Warriors scored in the fourth inning. SVSU fell
to 8-16 overall and 2-8 in the GLIAC. The Cardinals look to turn
their luck around on Friday the 13th, when they travel to Northwood
University for a double header. Game time is scheduled for 3:30
pm.
