Neering To Coach U.S All-Star Team in Australia

UNIVERSITY CENTER, MI- Saginaw Valley State University Head Softball Coach Fred Neering was recently selected to be an instructional coach with the coast-to-coast women's softball stars.

Players between the ages of 16-19 were selected through a tryout camp last September and will travel to Australia to take part in the Gold Coast Tournament held in both Sydney and Brisbane.

In addition to softball games the trip will also consist of cultural and educational tours on a daily basis.

The team is scheduled to depart from Los Angeles on Saturday July 7th with competition beginning Monday July 9th.

"I am very excited to coach such a great group of young athletes and am looking forward to the opportunity to compete against the Australian all-star teams," stated coach Neering.

Neering was selected after an extensive interview by coast-to-coast director Kevin Ritter. In five years Neering has recorded a record of 150-96 which ranks him second among SVSU all-time softball coaches. Any inquiries can be directed to Coach Fred Neering at (989)497-4968.
