SVSU splits with Hillsdale

HILLSDALE – In today's double header the Saginaw Valley State
University Cardinals ended up splitting two games with host Hillsdale
University. In the first game sophomore Courtney Pintek (Flushing)
pitched a complete game and got the win by the score of 6-3.
The win moves her record to 6-2 on the season. The Cardinal's
scored five of their six runs in the third inning. Sophomore catcher
Diana Balbough (Cheboygan) was able to churn out two hits
in the game along with one RBI. In the second game the Cardinal's
pushed the Chargers into the 11th inning and had them down two
runs but Hillsdale came back in the bottom of the inning and scored
three runs to get the win. Senior Outfielder Libby Poellet
(Frankenmuth) led the Cardinal's offensively collecting three
hits in as many trips to the plate and banging in two RBI's. Getting
the loss in the second game was junior Carrie Shay (Flint/Burton
Bendle) who gave up 11 hits and 8 runs in 10.2 innings of
work. This moves her record to 1-7 on the year. After this weekends
games the Cardinal's are 8-14 overall and 2-6 in the GLIAC.
The Cardinals will next be in action on Friday when they will
travel to Detroit when they will face the Warriors of Wayne State
University in a double header. Game time is slated for 4pm.
