Cards Split
With Ferris

BIG RAPIDS, MI- The Saginaw Valley State University
women's softball team split two games with the Bulldogs of Ferris
State University on this afternoon.
SVSU took the first game by the score of 4-0.
Junior pitcher Carrie Shay (Flint/Burton Bendle)
got the win for the Lady Cardinals. Shay only gave up four hits
in a complete game shutout. Her record improves to 2-9 on the
season.
The winning runs for the Cardinals came in the top
of the eighth inning when junior April Vega (Essexville Garber)
was able to double to left field scoring two SVSU baserunners.
Libby Poellet also came up big for the Cardinals
going two for three at the plate.
The Lady Cardinals lost the second game by the score
of 4-1.
Freshman right hander Courtney Pintek (Flushing)
was handed the loss for the Lady Cardinals. Pintek's record drops
to 6-3 on the season.
The Cardinals only produced four hits against the
Bulldogs in the second game. Their only run came in the fourth
inning when Libby Poellet's (Frankenmuth) single to left field
allowed fellow senior Tiffany Martin (Flushing) to scoot in from
third base.
SVSU's record is currently 12-22 overall and 4-8
in the GLIAC.
The Lady Cardinals next game will be on Friday,
April 27th when they will host Mercyhurst College. Game time will
be 4:00 p.m.
