Saginaw Valley defeats Tiffin University, 3-1

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women’s soccer team defeated Tiffin University today (Oct. 9), 3-1, in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) match-up.

The Cardinals would get on the board first when freshman Lara English (Charlotte, Mich. / Charlotte HS) netted her first career goal at the 24 minute mark. Saginaw Valley would go up 2-0 when sophomore Samantha Echols (Walled Lake, Mich. / Walled Lake HS) found the back of the net off a pass from junior Amanda Kady (Macomb, Mich. / Eisenhower HS). Tiffin would cut the lead to 2-1 in the 61st minute of the contest, before SVSU would answer with an insurance goal off the foot senior Jaclyn Barrett (Williamston, Mich. / Williamston HS) for her eighth goal of the season.

With the win, Saginaw Valley improves to 9-1-2 overall on the season, and 6-0-2 in the GLIAC, while Tiffin falls to 3-4-2 overall on the season and 3-3-2 in conference play. The Cardinals will return to action when they host the University of Findlay Sunday (Oct. 11) for a 12:00 pm contest.
