| BEAVERCREEK, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State University bowling teams kicked off the 2009 season last Saturday (Sept. 26), traveling to Beavercreek, Ohio, as they competed against 26 other American Heartland Intercollegiate Bowling Conference (AHIBC) teams at Beaver Vu Lanes and rolled away with an "A" Team win. The top five teams after the five team games and 15 baker games format were: 1. Saginaw Valley "A" 8715, 2. Davenport 8366, 3. Saginaw Valley "B" 8252 4. Wright State "Gold" 8196 5. Wright State "Green" 8017. Bonus pins were awarded in both team and baker games. During the team portion of the event, 10 pins were awarded for each individual win and 20 pins for the higher of the team totals. During the baker portion, 20 pins were awarded each game for the higher game. Saginaw Valley “A” team won all but 60 bonus pins out of a possible 650 pins. Individually, the cards took over the field of 200 players with 11 of the top 25 qualifying scores. Leading Saginaw Valley was sophomore Jordan Vanover, averaging 214 a game and senior Mike Snow closely followed in fourth with an average of 213. The all-tournament team comprised of: 1. Nick Sutherland of Davenport 1146/229 Average 2. Jordan Vanover of Saginaw "A" 1074/214 Average 3. Jay Foote of Wright State Gold 1071/214 Average 4. Mike Snow of Saginaw "A" 1069/213 Average 5. John Szczucinski of Toledo 1065/213 Average The Cardinals will return to the lanes when they travel to the Midwest Collegiate Tour in Milwaukee, Wisc. on October 4-5 at AMF Bowlero Lanes. |
