| Cardinals Bitten by Bulldogs, 80-69 |
| BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University mens basketball team fell to GLIAC foe Ferris State tonight (Feb. 19) by a score of 80-69. Things started off well for the Cardinals as they took a 39-38 lead into the break behind the strong performance of Avery Stephenson (Romulus, Mich./Nebraska Kearney), who scored nine points on four-of-nine shooting for the half. Point guard Greg Foster (Indianapolis, Ind./T.C. Howe) and forward Adam Gries (Freemont, Ohio) both added six points in the half. The Cardinals were led in overall scoring by Stephenson who ended the night with 18 points and seven rebounds. Foster, Gries and Dante Williams (Romulus, Mich./East Tenn State) all added 12 points respectively. Saginaw Valley State University falls to 7-16 overall on the season and 7-12 in the GLIAC, while Ferris State moves to 13-11 overall on the season and 11-8 in the GLIAC. The Cardinals will travel to Allendale, Mich. to battle with Grand Valley on Saturday (Feb. 21) night at 8:00 PM in a crucial late season match-up for Saginaw Valley. |
