FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Men
Take First, While Women Finish Seventh
Allendale, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University men’s
cross country squad came home with a first-place showing from the
Michigan Intercollegiate Meet, while the women also had a fine showing
as they earned seventh-place honors.
Junior Adam Roach
(Port Huron, Mich.) took home first place overall (25:40.00),
while James Gale (Westland, Mich./Livonia Churchill)
finished in seventh place with a time of 26:05. Just missing out
on a top ten finish was freshman Steve Czymbor
(Hemlock, Mich.) who earned twelfth place with a time of
26:22. Rounding out the top twenty was Pedro Ortega (Saginaw,
Mich./Swan Valley HS) as he ran a time of 26:35 to finish 20th.
On the women’s side
freshman Becca Rudey (Wixom, Mich./Walled Lake
Western HS) was the first Cardinal to cross the finish line
picking up 15th place with a run of 23:34. Senior Diane
Johnston (Grand Blanc, Mich.) followed 18th place
(23:58), while Meagan Strohkirch (Gladwin,
Mich.) took 22nd place with a time of 23:53.
