SVSU Runs In Regional Event

ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Cardinals' cross-country teams ran in the Regional race on Saturday, (Nov. 9) in Allendale Mich. The men finished in 18th place among the 19 schools competing, while the women finished fourteenth.

The SVSU men were paced by Adam Roach's (Port Huron, Mich.) 71st place finish, running a time of 35:03. Rob Samborn (Auburn, Mich./Western HS) placed 93nd with a time of 35:53, while Brandon Johnson (Kimball, Mich./Port Huron HS) crossed the finish line 10 seconds later for a 98th place finish. Jerome Recker (Kimball, Mich./Port Huron HS) finished with a time of 36:23, good for a 105th place finish. The Cardinals finished with a total score of 477, placing 18th among the 19 schools competing. Grand Valley finished first with a winning score of 55 points.

The Lady Cardinals were led by Rose Willis (Au Gres, Mich./ Sims HS), who finished 54th overall with a time of 24:11. Megan Strohkirch (Gladwin, Mich.) finished 62nd with a time of 24:25 and Diane Johnston (Grand Blanc, Mich.) finished one spot back with a time of 24:25. Grand Valley placed first with a winning score of 33 points, while the Cardinals finished 13 spots back with 345 points.

SVSU will next run on Saturday, November 9th at the NCAA Division II Championships in Ashland, Ohio.
