SVSU Runs at Michigan Championships

MILFORD, Mich. - The Cardinals' cross-country teams ran in the Michigan International Championships on Friday, (Sept. 11) at Kensington Metroparks in Milford Mich. The men finished in sixth place among the 14 schools competing, while the women finished in eighth.
    The Lady Cardinals were lead by Meagan Strohkirch (Gladwin, Mich.), who finished 29th overall with a time of 24:10. Diane Johnston (Grand Blanc, Mich.) finished 10 spots back with a time of 24:34, while teammate Jenny Bellsky (Frankenmuth, Mich.) came in 49th place with a time of 25:15.
    The SVSU men were paced by Adam Roach's (Port Huron, Mich.) 29th place finish, running a time of 26:51. Jerome Recker (Kimball, Mich./Port Huron HS) placed 44th with a time of 27:47, while Rob Samborn (Auburn, Mich./Western HS) crossed the finish line two seconds later for a 46th place finish.
    SVSU will next run on October 26 in the GLIAC Championships at 10a.m.
