SVSU Runs at GLIAC Championships

MILFORD, Mich. - The Cardinals' cross-country teams ran in the GLIAC Championships on Saturday, (Oct. 26) at Kensington Metroparks in Milford Mich. The men finished in seventh place among the GLIAC schools competing, while the women finished tenth.

    The SVSU men were paced by Adam Roach's (Port Huron, Mich.) 21st place finish, running a time of 25:53. Jim Wahl (St. Helen, Mich./Roscommon HS) placed 52nd with a time of 27:25, while Jerome Recker (Kimball, Mich./Port Huron HS) crossed the finish line four seconds later for a 56th place finish. The Cardinals finished with a total score of 216, six places behind Grand Valley's winning score of 42 points.

    The Lady Cardinals were led by Diane Johnston (Grand Blanc, Mich.), who finished 51st overall with a time of 24:07. Rose Willis (Au Gres, Mich./ Sims HS) finished three spots back with a time of 24:08, while teammate Sarah Johnston (Grand Blanc, Mich.) came in 68th place with a time of 24:41. Grand Valley took first place with a winning score of 29 points, while the Cardinals finished 9 spots back with 265 points.

    SVSU will next run on Saturday, November 9th at the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional in Allendale, Mich. The women will begin at 12:00p.m. and the men will start at 1:00p.m.
