SVSU Runs At Lakefront Invitational

 

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Saginaw Valley State University cross country team ran in the Lakefront Invitational, hosted by Loyola University (Oct. 5). SVSU's women placed eighth in the Division II field, and 14th out of the 44-team field.
The Lady Cardinals were led Meagan Strohkirch (Gladwin, Mich.) who finished 74th with a time of 19:50. Senior Rose Willis (Au Gres, Mich./Sims HS) placed 76th with a time of 19:52, while Diane Johnston (Grand Blanc,Mich.) came in 84th with a time of 19:59.
     The SVSU men were paced by freshman Adam Roach (Port Huron, Mich.) who finished 120th with a time of 26:53 in the 448-person run. Robert Samborn (Auburn,Mich./Western HS) recorded a time of 27:43 while senior Jim Wahl (St. Helen, Mich./Roscommon HS) finished with a mark of 27:55, good for 203rd place. The Cardinal men finished 25th overall with 740 points out of the 45-team field.
     SVSU will run next run on Friday, October 11 at the Michigan International Championships. Meet time is set for 4:30 p.m.
