SVSU WINS D2 TEAM CHALLENGE BY FOUR AND A HALF POINTS OVER HOST FINDLAY

FINDLAY, Ohio - What a day for the Cardinals as they made history by winning their first D2 Team Challenge on Saturday afternoon. SVSU won by a margin of four and a half points over the Findlay Oilers and also beat out 12 other schools along the way for the championship. SVSU had two first place winners on the day as sophomore James Gale (Livonia, Mich./Churchill) won the 3000 meters in a time of 8:42.66 for a meet record. In addition, senior high jumper Mario Guerrero (Saginaw, Mich./Swan Valley) claimed the top spot with a height of 6' 9".
     Junior Paul Jozwiak (Berkley, Mich.) ran to a second place in the 800 meters and earned eight points (1:59.75). Sophomore Greg Schmit (Leslie, Mich.) also finished second in the 5000 meters with a time of 15:35.14. Junior Adam Roach (Port Huron, Mich.) placed third in the mile and won six points with a time of 4:21.43. Senior Jake Adams (Corunna, Mich.) placed second in the shot put with a throw of 48' 6.25". Freshman Cullen Jamison (Traverse City, Mich./West) also claimed second in the weight throw (51' 4.5"). The 4x400 relay placed second with a time of 3:23.12. The distance medley relay placed third in a time of 10:13.07.
