CARDINALS HOST 15th SVSU INDOOR INVITATIONAL

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University track and field squads delivered a strong showing at the 15th SVSU Indoor Invitational on Friday at the Ryder Center. The meet featured over 12 schools and nearly 800 entries. The Cardinal men featured a first-place finish in the 4x400 meter relay in a time of 3:25.77. The relay team included Chris Baranek (Kawkawlin, Mich./Bay City Western), Kyle Rauschenberger (Auburn, Mich./Bay City Western), Lewis Gordon (Lansing, Mich./Everett) and Bill Germain (Vassar, Mich.). Baranek also tied a school-record in winning the 60 meter dash. His time of 6.91 tied the record set in 1995. Rauschenberger placed fourth in the 200 meters in 23.17.
    Gordon won the 400 meters in 49.63 and Jason Andrich (Marlette, Mich.) placed second in the weight throw (53' 2.5"). On the women's side, Mandie Gallier (Midland, Mich.) defeated all challengers in the 400 meters (58.84). She also picked up a fourth-place finish in the 60 meter hurdles (9.18). Gallier joined with Jessica Sweeney (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage), Kristen Kaszeta (Rochester, Mich.) and Ashley Samples (St. Clair, Mich./Marysville) to finish second in the 4x400 meter relay (4:05.57). Ashley Bishop (Pickford, Mich.) was victorious in the weight throw (52' 3.5") and also claimed fifth in the shot put (38' 10.5") for the Cardinals.
