Cards Host Track Meet
UNIVERSITY CENTER, MICH. – Saginaw
Valley had some fine performances put in by their team on Saturday,
(Apr.17) as they hosted their first outdoor meet of the season.
The meet was highlighted
by Mandie Gallier (Midland, Mich.), who
took home two first place individual performances, while her team
took first in the 4X400 meter relay. Her time of 1:00.48 in the
400 meter hurdles broke the school record she set just prior to
today’s meet. She also set a meet record in the process and
is a provisional qualifier for the NCAA Outdoor Championships. She
also took home first place in the 100 meter hurdles, with a time
of 3:58.56.
Mary Jo Pouillon
(Owosso, Mich.) also continued to do well, as
she took home first place in the shot put with a throw of 43-09.50’’.
Ashley Bishop (Pickford, Mich.)picked
up a first place in the discus with a throw of 132-11.00’’.
Jen Brogger (Harbor Springs, Mich./Harbor Springs
HS) managed to place first in the javelin, with a toss of 124-09.00’’.
On the men’s
side Mario Guerrero (Saginaw, Mich./Swan Valley)
won the high jump with a jump of 6-06’.00’’ to
out due the field. Chris Baranek (Kawkawlin,
Mich./Western HS) put on a tremendous showing, taking home
first place finishes in the 100 and 200 meter dashes, while his
team earned a first in the 4X100 meter relay. The men’s 4x100
relay team set a meet record with a time of 41.45 in winning the
event. Senior Jason
Andrich (Marlette, Mich.) threw the shot 48’
to capture a victory. Also garnering first place finishes were Lewis
Gordon (Lansing, Mich./Everett) in the 400-meter
dash, Mohammed Waite (East Lansing, Mich.)
in the 800, Greg Schmidt (Leslie, Mich.)
in the 5000, Max Masters (Battle Creek, Mich./Pennfield
HS)in the 110 meter hurdles, Jerome Recker
(Port Huron, Mich.) in the steeplechase, and Jake
Adams (Corunna, Mich.) in the discus.
