                            Cardinals Top Nationally Ranked Mercyhurst

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University men’s soccer defeated the nationally ranked Mercyhurst Lakers on Sat. (October 11) by a score  of  4-3.
The Cardinals started off slow, falling down by a score of 2-0. They then went on to score the next four goals. Robert Alexander (Midland, Mich.) started things off by scoring his eighth goal of the year mid-way through the first period. Cale Wasserman (Southfield, Mich./Birmingham Groves) followed that up with a goal of his own with under three minutes to play in the first period, knotting things up a 2-2. Kyle Grant (Milton, Ont./Bishop Reding) and Matt Urick ( Novi, Mich.) scored the next two goals of the game, to give SVSU a two-goal cushion. Mercyhurst would score one more to make it 4-3, and that ended the scoring. Senior Adrian Thomas (Marval, Trinidad & Tobago) played the entire game in goal for the Cardinals, picking up his seventh win of the year.
With the win, the Cardinals move to 7-3 on the season.
