Men’s Soccer

                                         Cardinals Defeat Charleston

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University men’s soccer team rallied in the second period to defeat The University of Charleston by a score of 3-2, on Friday (Sept. 12). Trailing 2-0 going into the second period, the Cards were able to rattle off three consecutive goals to pick up the win.
     Robert Alexander (Midland, Mich.) turned things around for SVSU in the second period, as he found the back of the net in the 51’st minute. Sophomore Eric Welton (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage HS) then tied things up with his goal, before Kyle Grant (Milton, Ont.Bishop Reding HS) scored the game winner in the 88th minute of play to seal the victory. Senior Adrian Thomas (Port of Spain, Trinidad) picked up the victory in the net, bumping his record to 4-1 on the season.
     With the victory the Cardinals are now 4-1 on the season. Saginaw will return to action on Saturday, (Sept. 20) as they host the Alma College. Game time is set for 1:00pm.
