Cardinals Drop GLIAC Opener

ASHLAND, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer team dropped a tough 1-0 decision to the host Ashland Eagles on Saturday (Oct. 5) in the first conference game of the season.
Ashland's Nate Stocum scored the game's only goal on a penalty kick awarded during the 75th minute. The Cardinals only managed seven shots on goal, while the Eagles peppered SVSU goal keeper Adrian Thomas (Marval, Trinidad) with 13 shots. Thomas managed to stop 12 shots, but it was the lone penalty kick that cost the Cardinals the game.
SVSU drops to 6-4 (0-1 GLIAC) on the season, while Ashland ups their record to 6-3 (1-0 GLIAC). The Cardinals finish their road trip with another GLIAC contest against the Findlay Oilers on Sunday (Oct. 6) at 2:30p.m.
