PARKER SCORES
23 IN 83-75 LOSS AT NORTHWOOD
MIDLAND, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State Cardinals dropped
out of the postseason race with an 83-75 loss at Northwood on Monday
night. Senior forward Anthony Parker (Muskegon,
Mich./Mona Shores) scored 18 of his team-high 23 points in
the first half and moved into third all-time in school history with
1,668 points. He shot 8-of-15 and 5-of-11 from beyond the arc in
40 minutes. Senior center David Williams (Laingsburg,
Mich.) had his second-best scoring game of the season with
17 points and he also had eight boards and two steals. Williams
was 6-of-11 in 25 minutes of action. SVSU shot 40 percent while
Northwood owned the inside with 40 points in the paint and 56.3
percent shooting, including 59.3 percent in the first half. NU's
Richard Kamm netted a career-high 25 points off the bench (11-of-15)
in 22 minutes. Freshman guard Brandon Ball (Grand
Rapids, Mich./Union) dished out eight assists and scored nine
points in 32 minutes. The T-Wolves bench also outscored SVSU, 32-14.
There were five ties in the first half as NU led 39-34 after 20
minutes. The T-Wolves stretched their lead to 61-45 with 10:01 left
for their largest lead. SVSU cut the lead to six points in 2:30
to 62-56 on a Williams triple. SVSU had a chance to tie the game
down 66-64 with 3:31 left, but Graham Mertz canned a triple in the
corner and SVSU could get no closer. The Cards (10-16, 5-12 GLIAC)
finishes the season at home against Lake State on Saturday at 8:00
pm.
