SVSU SHOOTS 33 PERCENT IN 66-54 LOSS AT NORTHERN MICHIGAN

MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Cardinals (9-11, 4-7 GLIAC) could not ride the momentum of a road victory at Michigan Tech on Thursday night as they fall 66-54 to Northern Michigan on Saturday afternoon from the Berry Events Center.
     SVSU trailed 7-0 off of the opening tip and never led in a game which featured 33 percent shooting for the Cards and 50 percent shooting for the Wildcats. The Cards trailed 35-24 at intermission and found themselves down by their largest margin of 21 points in the second half before cutting the final deficit to 12.
     SVSU went 14-of-15 at the charity stripe for their best team percentage of the season (.933) and corralled 31 total rebounds. Senior Anthony Parker (Muskegon, Mich./Mona Shores) led the Cardinals with 13 points and blocked two shots. In addition, Parker moved into sixth place on the SVSU all-time scoring list. Junior Ron McGrew (Inkster, Mich./Robichaud) added 11 points and six boards. Freshman Brandon Ball (Grand Rapids, Mich./Union) chipped in 10 points, five boards, three assists and two steals. Ricky Volcy was 11-of-13 and scored 28 points with six boards for the Wildcats.
